There is a growing trend of large corporate investors which includes foreign entities who are buying up huge parcels of U.S. farmland to further control our land and food supply. This is a major concern for American families' food security and wellbeing of our national sovereignty. ​

As written by the American Farmland Trust, "The ownership of 40 percent of America’s agricultural land will be in transition within the next 15 years, putting both family farmers and the land they steward at risk. Meanwhile, would-be farmers often can’t afford to enter the field."

"The cost of growing crops could outpace revenue for many farmers in 2022, making it more difficult to break even despite rising commodity prices and increased demand both domestically and globally. According to goodranchers.com, "As we move further and further away from ownership - we are losing more and more of the independent small farms and ranches that helped build American agriculture. We only partner with independent farms and ranches here in the U.S., and we would hate to see them become renters instead of owners. There is power in ownership of land - and the more renting we see - the more there may be a consolidation of that power."
